Last year Lombok, Indonesia was shaken by a series of strong earthquakes that killed 500 people and left 400,000 displaced after losing everything in those quakes. These locally grown bamboo straws and assembled pouches are made in efforts to help the Sasak people of Lombok rebuild their lives and stand back up again. These women hand-stitch each of the Indonesian Batik pouches for the straws and through this project they are able to stay home with their small babies and still contribute to their families by earning a fair wage. The rebuilding of Lombok is a slow process but this opportunity is helping build back their lives one stitch at a time.
Each pack of 10 reusable straws includes a pipe cleaner and carry bag.
