Meet Charles
Hi, I'm Charles. I am 12 years old and have two siblings. I live in Sidorejo, Java with my family. I have a dream of becoming a soccer player like Messi. My father earns income by picking fruit from the harvest of local crops. He receives about 50,000 Indonesian Rupiah per day, which is about $3.00. Our low income causes many obstacles for our family. The wages that my father earns goes to our daily and household needs and then to mine and my siblings education. Sometimes I try to help my family earn extra income, by looking for grass for the neighbor's cattle. The wage I earn is very small, but I want to try to help my family anyway I can.My mother is a housewife and focuses much of her time on my younger siblings.
This year I will be starting Middle School. I am afraid that my family won’t be able to pay for my tuition. My younger siblings also have tuition for elementary school. If I only finish elementary school, I worry that I won’t be able to find a good job and help provide for my family. I want to continue my education and study hard.
