Intan is one of the children who understands the importance of education. Even though it takes more than an hour from her home to get to school every day, she still chooses to attend. She said most of her friends only graduated from junior high school and chose to work to help their parents instead. But for Intan it is different, she prefers to go to school and study, because she has a dream of giving her parents a better life than what they have now. “I want to work and not be a farmer like my parents. There are not any companies who will hire only a junior high graduate.” Is what she told us when we visited her house in Munduk, Tabanan. Seeing Intan’s passion and drive for learning made us realize, even more, how much children desire to continue in their education, but the lack of resources in their family keeps them from pursuing it.
